We are now in search of professional English teachers to teach at our high end English training school in Chongqing. We focus on teaching engaging, communicative English classes to young learner students aged from 3 to 15 years old.

Currently we have 11 language centres throughout the city. We need teachers who are culturally aware and have the ability to be sensitive towards their Chinese colleagues and students, understanding the need to adapt and become accustomed to new ideas and values. We are looking for teachers who are team players, demonstrating an ability to work together with other departments within the school to promote our ethos, as well as bolster our student enrollment.

Our mission is to provide all of our students with the advantage of being able to speak English, the international language, competently, so as to give them a competitive edge in their life and future careers. We also want our learners to not only develop core linguistic competence in English, but in addition, acquire key skills-based competencies including: problem-solving, self-motivated learning, creative and critical thinking and the ability to pursue their own happiness throughout the learning process.

Our students learn through a variety of engaging activities that stimulate their mind and develop their linguistic abilities. Teachers make use of songs, games, activities, drawing, bookwork and a range of other approaches. We recognize that good lessons require good teachers therefore we provide excellent training, ongoing development as well as opportunities for promotion and advancement.

Chongqing The City

Chongqing is situated on the upper reaches of the Yangtze river in Sichuan province in the west of China, not far from Tibet. It is a large and fast changing city, known as Mountain City, spread around a mountain, you will be always walking either up or down. It really is a city of changes, mixing modern development with local traditions and small local neighbourhoods. Chongqing is endowed with rich natural scenery, boasting mountains, rivers, forests springs, waterfalls, gorges and caves. It also showcases the area’s rich cultural heritage, including the minority Bayu culture, Three Gorges and the modern, developed city itself-including the Yangtze River Cruises.

Chongqing is especially well known for its food. People love to eat here and you will find thousands of restaurants featuring all kinds of delicious dishes to feast on. Most famous is the spicy hot pot. Chili pepper, sesame, fermented black beans, scallions, ginger, garlic, wine, soy sauce and an array of flavorings are used in almost 40 different cooking methods.

Main Responsibilities

o Maximum of 25 teaching hours per week

o Average of 5 admin hours per week (total of 30 working hours per week including teaching and admin hours, and will be adjusted based on schedule)

o Class sizes: maximum of 12 students per class

o Student ages: 3 to 15 years old

o 5 working days per week with Mondays and Tuesdays off (flexible schedules)

o Counseling students by providing constructive feedback

o Cooperate with Chinese staff to ensure the constructive communication and efficient operation of the centre

o Participation in Extra Curricular Activities (ECA)

o Deliver classes in a professional and creative way

Compensation

o Highly competitive salary: 18,000 to 22,000 RMB per month

o Flight reimbursement on contract completion: 6,000 RMB

o Monthly Housing allowance: 1,200 RMB per month

o Monthly bonuses based on performance: 1,000 to 2,000 RMB per month

Requirements

o Bachelors degree or above required

o TEFL certificate 120 hours OR 2 years teaching experience required (No TEFL? We recommend INTESOL, )

o Native English speaker from UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia or Ireland

o 2 years of teaching experience preferred (non experienced teachers with TEFL may apply)

o Clean criminal background
